Local Area
The Department of the Aveyron, which is one of the least populated departments of mainland France, essentially agricultural and therefore enjoys unspoiled scenery. Close by are the Gorges d'Aveyron (best seen by a canoe a little further down the river). The Gorges du Tarn, the Lot Valley (which can be enjoyed by a boat excursion from Cahors) and the Cele Valley. There is also the wonderful wildlife.
Jackryn is within a few miles of the Lot and of the Tarn. This is the boarders of the pre-Napoleonic division between the Rouergue and the Quercy. It is therefore within easy driving distance of a number of significant and beautiful towns such as, Albi, Bruniquel, Cahors, Conques, Cordes, Figeac, Montauban, Penne, Racomadour, Rodez, St. Cirque, Lapopie, Rocquefort, St, Antonin Noble Val, Sauveterre de Rouergue and Toulouse, and the local towns of Najac, Villeneuve, and Villefranche de Rouergue.
